Steve Brownell allegations that the Kansas City man defrauded three investors out of about $574,000 in a trucking investment scheme.
In a release Wednesday, Nixon said that he filed the charges May 28 in Jackson County Circuit Court and that Brownell hasn't turned himself in to authorities.
Nixon's charges allege that Brownell persuaded three Kansas City-area individuals to invest in the purchase of dump trucks, which Brownell said would be used to haul rock, sand, asphalt and salt. Brownell allegedly represented that in return for their investments, investors would get a percentage of the profits from each truck. Instead, Nixon alleged, investors received little if any return on their investments. Nixon's office encourages anyone who has seen Brownell or has information on his whereabouts to contact Nixon's office at 816-889-5029 or 573-751-0702. Brownell is described as a white male, 51 years old, 6 feet tall and about 185 pounds, with a medium build and blue eyes.
