A Springfield lawyer was indicted yesterday on charges that he filed fraudulent documents for illegal immigrants seeking permanent residence in the United States, prosecutors said. Michael M. Hadeed Jr. faces charges of immigration fraud, conspiracy and making false statements to federal agencies in what prosecutors said was a scheme that operated out of the King of Pita Bakery in Alexandria. Prosecutors said the case is part of a large-scale immigration fraud investigation.
Hadeed, whose law office is in Springfield, faces as much as 23 years in prison if convicted.
