Bank worker cleared of £466,000 fraud "FORMER Bolton bank worker accused of being involved in a fraud worth almost half-amillion pounds has walked free from court after he was cleared by a jury.

Mian Rashid was working at the Derby Street branch of NatWest when he opened two accounts for customers which turned out to be fraudulent, Manchester Crown Court heard yesterday.

Rashid, aged 31, of Rashcliffe Hill Road, Huddersfield, said he did not know the documents used to open the accounts were fraudulent and that he was just doing his job.

Following a month-long trial the jury yesterday accepted Rashid’s explanation and he was found not guilty of conspiracy to defraud.

But his co-defendants, Fawad Ahmed and Saalih Ahmed, were both found guilty of the same charge."
