Police Professional :: News :: Olympic fraudsters jailed: "The leader of a gang of fraudsters who used the lure of the Olympic Games to con pensioners into handing over their life savings has been jailed along with four other accomplices.

The five men conned their victims into buying fake or worthless shares, claiming land would 'rocket' in value before 2012.

Judge Stephen Robbins said the 'outrageous and elaborate' fraud hit those 'who could ill afford to lose money'.

Southwark Crown Court heard that the men received £286,000 over a seven-month period in 2006 and 2007."
