Tony Blair hires new aide to ‘re-engage’ with British politics

<p>Tony Blair has hired a new communications chief as he prepares to “re-engage” with Britain, it emerged today. The former prime minister has recruited ex-Downing Street press officer Rachel Grant ahead of a return to the domestic political scene. The move comes as Sir John Chilcot is finalising his Iraq inquiry report which is expected to be critical of Mr Blair when it is finally published early next year. Ms Grant is expected to join the Office of Tony Blair this month, Public Affairs News reported, overseeing the former prime minister’s personal PR and managing communications around his extensive lobbying operations. A source close to Mr Blair said: “The question is how he re-enters the UK scene without re-entering domestic politics and interfering with the Labour party.” </p>
