Tired and annoyed with receiving too many fraudulent credit card transactions to pay for World of Warcraft subscription, major UK bank Halifax decided to stop honoring payments made to Blizzard Entertainment. Their decision to block Blizzard payments was discovered when a client, Brit Michael, complained that he couldn't pay for his WoW subscription through Halifax.
Halifax responded by saying that their fraud analysts have "made the decision to decline all Blizzard transactions due to the high volume of fraud and a high incidence of compromised details." As it turns out, many World of Warcraft players used stolen credit cards to pay for their subscription.
Michael, however, was not fully convinced, saying that he wasn't aware of any other banking organization blocking Blizzard transactions. UK news outfit The Register tried to confirm with Blizzard if other banks made a similar decision, but they were not available for comment.
