Leslie Anderson of Toronto was part of a telemarketing scam calling itself "First Capital."That outfit cold-called U.S. phone numbers, including some in southern Illinois, and offered credit cards to those with less-than-perfect credit.
But the U.S. government says that instead of a Mastercard or Visa for their payments of $189 to $219, the victims got a package stuffed with ads.Anderson was convicted of 18 wire fraud counts, five mail fraud counts and a conspiracy count.Sentencing is set for July 11th.
